Integrating Insent with your Marketo

Pre-requisites: You will need to set up your Marketo API to integrate Marketo with Insent. You will need to have ‘Write’ permission to the Integrations resource set to integrate with Marketo successfully.

Insent Marketo Integration allows customers to integrate their Marketo instance with Insent and further identify visitors who have reached the site through Marketo. Insent uses Marketo data to target the right audience on your website and connect them with the right agents.

How does the Insent-Marketo Integration enable your conversational chat experience?

  • Record new leads created in Insent to Marketo in real-time.

  • Push chat history from all your conversations with leads to Marketo as a timeline activity.

Connect Marketo to Insent

Integrating your Marketo platform with the Insent platform will allow you to create qualification rules based on the static and smart lists in Marketo. 

1. Navigate to Settings -> Integrations. You'll see 'Marketo' listed in the integrations section. 

2. Click on the 'Connect' button in the 'Marketo' section. 

3. A popup will be displayed on the screen asking for the client id, client secret, and base URL for your Marketo instance. 

4. Enter the mentioned details corresponding to your Marketo account and click the 'Save' button. 

5. Please enter the Instance URL in the 'Base URL' section during the Marketo Authentication process in Insent with the following format - https://650-KCG-111.mktorest.com/ where 650-KCG-111 is a sample Marketo Instance ID (You will have a different Instance ID).

6. You have successfully integrated with Marketo and can begin leveraging the Insent-Marketo Integration!

Insent will now automatically identify and map all Marketo Lead fields with available Insent fields. You can additionally map any custom Marketo field attributes to Insent fields from the Field mapping page. Learn more about default fields and field mapping in the Field mapping article.

What should I do if the integration is not successful?

Here are some quick checks you can do to troubleshoot the Insent-Marketo Integration:

  • Has your Marketo API been given the right permission set? (Please refer to the Marketo API documentation to learn more)
  • Please ensure that you entered your ‘Base URL’ during the Marketo Authentication process in Insent in the following format (https://650-KCG-111.mktorest.com/) where 650-KCG-111 is a sample Instance ID.
  • Are your Client id and Client Secret entered correctly?
